Since starting this site, I have been able to conduct dozens of mattress reviews from online mattress start-ups to big name retail brands. Having such a wide exposure to different mattresses, I feel that I can give a unique perspective of what constitutes a good mattress and what will probably be a good fit for you too. You’ll notice that the big brands like Sealy, Serta and Simmons won’t rank highly on my mattress reviews. They  make some good mattresses at the higher price points but the beds below are just as good and often better at about half the price with a more generous trial period!

With the explosion of new online mattress startups most notably Casper, people have been eager to try them out. However, most of these companies do not have showrooms spread across the country. It’s impossible to try them all out in one store like a typical mattress company.

Please note, this is not a ranking system. Look at each metric and decide which is most important to you. Having said that, there are some brands that stand out above others such as Nest Bedding, Novosbed,  Lull and Luxi that have consistently impressed me in terms of quality and price.

Please consider the following as you make a decision:

• While I don’t get paid to review mattresses, I do receive a commission if a mattress is purchased through my site.
• Some people are more sensitive to initial off gassing to others which may weigh on your decision. This it temporary and will go away in a week’s time.
• Do you sleep on your stomach? You should consider a firmer mattress.
• Does your partner wake you up at night? Go with a mattress that has less motion transfer.
• Do you wake up sore in the morning? Consider an all foam mattress.
• How about price? One thing I have learned in this business is that price doesn’t always equal quality.
• If you don’t like memory foam there are a few inner spring companies coming online, I list my favorites below.
• If you are looking for natural bedding I have recommendations for that as well.

I have owned many mattresses during my lifetime and although each person is different when it comes to sleep preferences, I can say that quality matters. But more expensive doesn’t always mean quality.  You can see from my reviews above that some of the best rated mattresses aren’t all that expensive. You just need to know which companies are reputable and stand by their product.

Mattress and bedding technology is developing rapidly and these mattresses are at the forefront of that development. If you haven’t upgraded your mattress in the past 5 years, you are in for a treat!
