Boll & Branch is an organic bedding company that is taking the industry by storm. I finally had a chance to review their sheets after months of waiting. Why did I wait so long? Because demand is so high for these sheets that they were on back order. But let me tell you, they are well worth the wait! You may have first heard about them through their Sirius XM radio ad.

There’s just so much to like about this company. First and foremost, their sheets feel and look amazing. The are soft right out of the box. After one wash they do feel a little scratchy but after 2 washes they begin to soften and after 3 they will have their true feel. I think this is in part because they don’t use chemicals on the sheets to prematurely soften them. Which leads me to the second coolest part of Boll & Branch sheets, they are 100% organic cotton.

I have reviewed other organic cotton sheets but none come close to Boll and Branch in terms of quality of the stitching and attention to detail.

They are a great company if you are looking at entry level organic sheets at a great price. However, Boll & Branch takes organic sheets to a whole new level. The colors are vibrant and beautiful and the attention to detail is on par with Frette. However you will pay far less for Boll & Branch Sheets than Frette plus you get the added benefit of them being organic.

The third benefit of purchasing Boll & Branch products is that they are a Fair Trade certified company for their whole supply chain meaning you don’t need to feel guilty about having these luxury sheets. Everyone benefits from your purchase, not just you and the company.

Finally, they also support a great cause, notforsale.org which fights modern day slavery, child exploitation and human trafficking.

Now on to the sheets…

Unboxing

Unboxing the Boll & Branch sheets is a fun experience and you shouldn’t unbox them alone.

The Boll & Branch box is made of sturdy cardboard, sort of like a cigar box. It can be reused to story all sorts of things. We now use it to store my sons toy cars. It makes a nice conversation piece too.

boll and branch box

You’ll notice that every step of the way, there’s an extraordinary amount of attention to detail. They include a nice Thank You card and more information about their partnership with notforsale.org.

There is a separate buttoned pocket that contains the top sheet, fitted sheet and pillow cases for the sheet set that I received. Don’t worry this is not unnecessary waste. They are actually the remainder pieces of fabric from the sheets themselves. So, instead of discarding them, they serve another purpose and can be used to for extra storage around the house. You can even fill them with cotton balls for doll pillows.

You will really start to appreciate these sheets after about 3 washes. They feel amazing and have a good thickness to them. These sheets are the perfect compliment to your natural bedding ensemble. For instance, if you have a natural latex mattress with organic cotton case and wool topper, why would you then purchase sheets made with toxic chemicals?

Conversely, if you bought a memory foam mattress, why not make what you sleep closest to you a natural product? These are very well made, durable sheets that will last years and years so it is not only a wise investment but also an investment in your health with the added benefit of making you bedroom look gorgeous!

Boll & Branch sheets have been selling out quickly. If you are looking to purchase these for yourself or as a gift, make sure you plan accordingly!

You may also want to consider SOL Organics or Coyuchi sheets, which are both fair trade certified organic cotton at a great price.

What a coincidence! I was thinking of treating myself to Boll and branch sheets and have been searching for reviews. Nice to know you liked them. How do they compare with Brooklinen?

  2. Editor

Boll and Branch sheets feel amazing, just like Brooklinen. The difference is that they are organic. They also have some great swatches to choose from, a bit more than Brooklinen so in that respect they tend to be a bit fancier. You really can’t go wrong with either though I would recommend the Boll & Branch over the Brooklinen if you can afford it.

    They are great sheets!

I bought Boll &Branch sheets after hearing about them on the radio for months. All I can say is they are, by far, the most comfortable sheets I’ve ever used. So much so I ordered another set the next day. I don’t usually do product reviews, but these sheets are amazing. I doubt I’ll ever sleep on anything else. You have to try them!

I am wondering about how they come out of the dryer…….are they smooth, do they need ironing?

    1. Editor

They need ironing if you want them to be hotel smooth.Since they are organic they don’t come with chemicals that keep away wrinkles. However I never iron them and they still feel great.

This is too late for people like Lavanya but for others considering Brooklinen versus Boll and Branch:

We have a set of the luxe sheets from Brooklinen as well as a set of sheets from Boll and Branch. Both are sateen weave. To me the Brooklinen sheets feel softer and a bit more substantial. However, we have only washed both sets a couple of times so far and they will probably both improve. The difference may be up to the thread count as Brooklinen is 480 and Boll and Branch is 300.

Please don’t misinterpret — the Boll and Branch sheets are excellent and are organic and free trade. However, based on material and our preference we would probably buy the Brooklinen luxe set again even though they don’t sell split king sets like Boll and Branch and it cost us more to buy from Brooklinen. If you prefer lighter sheets you may prefer Boll and Branch.

How durable are the Boll and Branch sheets and duvet covers compared to The Company Stores 600 TC Egyptian cotton?

  8. Edwina Moss

Would love to know how these compare to sheets from Parachute! I just bought a sheet set from there (sateen) and they feel AMAZING. I’ve heard a lot about Boll & Branch, but they were more expensive and weren’t in stock.

I bought my Boll & Branch sheets in September and they just started pilling. Very disappointed. I had been bragging to my friend how great they were.

After looking for these sheets on the their website I found that most of what I wanted was out of stock. I did find a white set that looked very nice. I put the set on one of my guest beds and found out they were huge. I called the company and they said to make sure I wash them first that they are not pre shrunk. I washed them which didn’t help much! After washing them I noticed that they are so thin I can see my hand through them. I’m terribly dissatisfied with the quality. I have other sheets from other stores such as Bed, Bath & Beyond for half the price which are much better. I’m so sad …I was hoping for an over the top sheet set which is what they advertise.

I’ve tried the big 3 – Parachute first (hated them, so poorly made. Tried to return them but their customer service was awful. Then tried Brooklinen because they were less expensive. Unexceptional. Fine, I guess.

Finally, gave in to the pressure and bought these Boll and Branch sheets. They are beautiful in every way. Probably the nicest sheets I have ever tried. Anyone that is comparing them to the Parachutes or Brooklinens probably works for the company, because you can’t compare. The Boll and Branches are fine, fine linens (meaning the threads are fine) and wash very well. I would compare them favorably to anything from Frette or Sferra.

    Being quite honest,

Parachute = Macy’s or Target Quality Brooklinen = Pottery Barn Boll and Branch = Saks or Frette

I am so glad I read the review on this site and decided to spend a bit extra. So very worth it. Oh, and the packaging is a delight. You have to see it to believe it.

Katy, thank you so much for your review, I know you are being honest because I am here for the very reason you mention! I noticed my Parachute sheets are scratchy and feel like sandpaper, even my Macy’s sheets feel smoother than them and I’ve had them for over 7 months now! No wonder they don’t tell you the thread count..probably 100 or less..so I started reading reviews again and noticed most of these reviews are always so positive probably because they sent them free sheets..so I figured the only was to truly know was to spend the money and to buy Brooklinen and Boll and Branh to compare. Now thanks to your review I will pass in the Brooklinen and just go for the Boll and Branch! (Also heard their commercial on the Francesa show) Thanks!
