The good news about mattress shopping is that there are more brands coming online and the competition is heating up. To get your dollar, these brands are in a price war with each other and that means you win!
It is easy to get overwhelmed with mattress research online and to cut through the noise, a good rule of thumb is to look to the mattress on Amazon that have a combination of the most reviews and the highest star rated reviews.
For this post there are two memory foam mattresses on Amazon that I have found to be mainstays in terms of consistently high reviews. What this should also tell you is that they are consistent in their quality.
The second recommendation for best Amazon mattress is the Zinus Green Tea Mattress. As you can see below it has over 4,000 reviews with just about all of them being positive. A queen retails for an insane $289!
So, what’s the difference between the Brentwood and Zinus brands? The biggest difference is that the Brentwood Home mattress is made in the USA while the Zinus mattress is made in China. However, both are CertiPur Certified meaning they are free of any harmful chemicals. The reason that the Zinus is so much less is that the cost of production is much less in China vs. the US.
In terms of feel, the Cypress comes in an all-foam version which is slightly more supportive than the green tea and more breathable. It is also available in a spring and foam hybrid that feels amazing and would be my preference. The Zinus Green Tea is considerably softer. It also smells like green tea, hence the name. The green tea smell eventually goes away but I think it was added to take away from the memory foam smell.
Although you can buy both of these mattresses from Amazon with free shipping, I advise buying directly from the company for the freshest inventory and direct customer service. If you buy direct from Brentwood Home you get a 120-night free trial where you can try out the mattress and if not satisfied return it for a full refund. The Zinus mattress has a trial period of 30 days for a full refund. If you buy direct from Zinus.com vs Amazon.com you get an additional 10% off by purchasing through this link, bringing the cost of the mattress down to $261 since it is listed at $290 regular price.
